2025 Bursary Recipient

🎓 Congratulations to Our Bursary Recipient – Luka James! 🎓
The Stuart Lake Hospital Auxiliary is proud to announce Luka James as this year’s bursary recipient!

Luka was not only the successful applicant for our annual bursary—awarded to a local student pursuing a career in healthcare—but she also served as one of our junior volunteers, generously giving her time to support and uplift residents in Long Term Care.

Luka’s compassion, dedication, and drive have left a lasting impression on both residents and Auxiliary members alike. She will be attending UNBC this fall with the goal of becoming a doctor, and we couldn’t be more proud to support her as she begins this exciting journey.

📸 In the photo, Luka receives her bursary from Helen Fredericks, who manages our Junior Volunteer program and had the pleasure of working closely with her.

Thank you, Luka, for your meaningful contributions—and best wishes for all that lies ahead! 🌟

Meet one of our newest Volunteers

We couldn’t do what we do best—help our community—without the heart and hands of our volunteers. Every helping hand makes a difference, and we’re so grateful to have Bernice join our team!

🎹 Bringing Music to Life at Stuart Lake Hospital 🎶

The Stuart Lake Hospital Auxiliary is helping fill the halls of Long Term Care with music! Thanks to their generosity, a new Yamaha electronic piano has been purchased for the unit, bringing joy and harmony to residents.

Dio from Maintenance, Simar our new Activity Worker, and Helen—our dedicated volunteer and self-appointed “supervisor”—teamed up to assemble the piano. There were a few laughs (and maybe a few head-scratching moments), but teamwork won out and everything came together beautifully.

We can’t wait for the first sing-along!
